Inclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria

Acute injury

Uncertain clinical diagnosis

Local tenderness

Verified or previously suspected posterior thigh muscle injury

Pain with resisted knee flexion or resisted hip extension

Pain on palpation at the origin or insertion of the posterior thigh muscles

Pain with passive hip flexion with the knee extended

 

Provocation of pain on isometric contraction of posterior thigh muscles

Extrinsic trauma to the posterior thigh or bilateral injuries

Tendon avulsion or total rupture of hamstring muscles

Chronic low back pain and/or sciatica
